Title Research: Silver Lining Playbook

Image
In this title sequence, the first thing I see is a TWC title. For a while it's a black screen but you can hear narration. The establishing scene is of the actor in a psychiatric hospital. A man begins to knock on the door and raises his voice. An eyeline shot comes in and shows the man looking at a paper that said "excelsior". The rest of the opening scene shows hi day through the psych hospital. He's mother shows up to take him back home "early". The image prioritized in this opening sequence is the paper that says "EXCELSIOR". This image carries the connotation of " to mean more" and to "keep going". This connotation goes with the theme because excelsior mean to push forward and the man is in a psych hospital. That makes the audience wonder why he's in the hospital. The narration makes the man sound mysterious. The established feeling of confusion because the audience can tell where he is  but they don't know why. Us...

Title Research: Daredevil

Image
I've never watched Daredevil before, so this was my first time seeing the opening sequence. The first thing I see in the title sequence is a face dripping in a red substance. There is a zoom out effect and then I see a body. The theme was red. The only other color I saw was black and that when their were shadows. The red makes out several different figures. The figures look like, buildings, people, a bride, and some type of pot. Towards the end of the title opening the red figures makes an angle, a castle, and a devil. Finally the title of the movie appears in bold and red. the Marvel logo also shows up on the left side of the title. To me the images most prioritized were the castle, angle, and the devil. I say this because the duration of these images lasted longer than the others. The red outline of the devil is bigger then the angle outline. I also noticed that the devil outline was more human like than the angle. The angle looked like one of those fake ones that you put on yo...

Title Research: To all the boys: Forever and Always.

Image
I say a couple different titles in the beginning. The first title I see is "ACE". The next tile I see is "Awesomeness FILMS" in all black. In the title sequence he theme looks like it would be art or writing. I say this because the girl comes to the table and says "dear peter" while writing on  postal card. Then the focus shifts to a crowed place in a town. There are a lot of people. The title sequence is a narration of the girl while she is on a trip. In this title sequence there isn't necessarily an image being prioritized because the focus constantly shift. There was a zoom up on the postal card that she was writing on. The connotation of this image could mean that she is trying to get a message to someone. I say this because when people write letters to people their intent is to get a message to someone. This possible connotation also adds to the title of the movie. " To All The Boy" this could be the start to a letter she would write. ...

Title Research: The Invisible man

Image
When the movie first starts their is a picture of an earth and a title wrapping around it. The title I see displayed is the Universal logo. I then see the titles of  BH productions, and the movie title "invisible man". The font being used is big and in all caps.  The image prioritized in the opening sequence is an image of water hitting the shore. The connotations carried out by these image could be a sense of emptiness. I say this because It looks to be dark out and I get cold feeling. I can connect these emotions to the feeling of being sad or alone. The sound of the water hitting the shore sounds loud. Because the sound of the waves crashing sounds so loud, I cant infer that their probably isn't much around the shore, or that there isn't much going on. In addition I can also hear the sound of birds, lots of them. Because I hear this I can also infer that their might be something dead around. Usually birds get in groups and swarm an area if they see of smell a dead ...

Title Research: Watch the Title Website

Image
I researched this website to learn about titles and title design. When I first opened the page I saw section dedicated to interviews of several different please. When I scrolled the page their were other click options for Tv shows, video games, student projects, French Fridays, and event titles. At the top of the page there was a pull down option named title sequence. I scrolled down the page and there were multiple examples of title sequences. All the title sequence examples have descriptions under them. I learned that the theme of the title sequence is a key part in having a good title sequence. If the film is about technology then the title sequence should be techy or probably involve a computer or a smart device. Some of these title sequence are literal to the title of the film. A lot of the titles of the film are in the first thing you see in the title sequence.

Title Research: Art of the Title Website

Image
I'm looking at this website to learn more about what a title sequence is. Along with learning more about a title sequence, I'm also researching to learn more about a title design. I opened the site and the first thing I saw was an article titled "WILL SUCCESS SPOIL ROCK HUNTER?". I scrolled down to the bottom of the page and found an article that was titled "Top 10 Title sequences of 2020". The article was organized into 10 different sections. Each section was based on a different movies title sequence. Along with the playable title sequence there was a description of why it was apart of the top 10 list. The description including the reasons why it was a good opening sequence and what it was also missing. I learned that your title sequence should relate to the movie. It should correlate to the open scene of the film.

Genre Research: Avengers: Endgame

Image
This movie had a lot of tension and mood in it. Its a Marvel film so obviously it going to be bad guys vs good guys. Almost all the marvel characters came together to try to defeat the bad guy and if they didn't the world would be doomed as they knew it. They was a lot going on in this movie because they was so many different characters. The constant tension of what might happen next was unbelieve. I really like the constant suspense. It really kept the audience guessing every characters next move, which is why I said there was a lot going on. A lot of the time Marvel movies like this are predictable, but its not terrible. Usually there's a little twist but they end up having the day in the end. This movie ended a bit differently. My favorite part was seeing all the relationships with the characters and seeing how they interact with one another. There was a lot of personality of every group of hero's to say the least. My next favorite part was when Thanos sacrificed he daug...

Genre Research: 365 days

Image
This movie has elements like dramatic tension and mood. This movie also has a lot of romance. In the beginning of the movie the women, her husband, and another couple went on a trip for her birthday. She was walking by herself and a man spotted her. He then followed her and when he caught her alone, he kidnapped her. He thought she was so beautiful. He told her to give him 365 days to fall in love with him and if she doesn't he'll let her go. Obviously she was very freaked out but she ended up giving him a chance, but she was playing VERY HARD TO GET with him. As she should because he sounded like a crazy man. He was very rich and had various living places all over the world. I really liked the plot of this movie though. To me, its very different. This is the first movie I've seen with this concept. I feel like it was really creative. I'm not sure how realistic it is but you never know. My favorite seen would probably be the boat scene and the shower scene would be a ru...

Genre Research: To all the boys: always and forever

Image
This movie has the element of love and theme. It's a bit of a roller coaster in the beginning because she likes her sisters boyfriend but then she finds a new crush and then she thinks that writing letters to them but not giving it to them is going to make her feel better. Later in the movie her youngest sister finds the box and gives the letters to the boys which gives the audience a taste of suspense. After the boy get the letter they read it. The boy who received the letter last didn't open his and she was trying to get the letter back. They ended up liking each other and falling in love. I really like the theme and plot of this movie. It really kept the audience guessing and on their toes. When it got to the end though you could kind of tell what was going to happen because it predictable. I feel like a lot of the time movies like this are easy to tell what happens in the end. The guy always gets the girl or the girl always gets the guy. It's a cute movie though and I f...

Genre Decision Blog

Image
I've decided that the genre of my opening sequence is going to be drama. I did some extra research on horror, thriller, and drama to make sure that I was going with the right genre. I went over all three PowerPoints to look at the characteristic of each genre. At first I thought thriller might be a good genre to use. Good thing I went back to look at the PowerPoint because my idea for my opening sequence would've been way off. I think drama is the best way to go because it delivers the type of emotional aspect that I'm going for. If I chose thriller it would've left the audience a little confused. Doing horror was definitely out of the question. My opening sequence is about a widowed after losing her husband...Nothing about that is screaming horror to me. Its a sad event that will hopefully make the audience feel a sense of sympathy towards the reader. Before my idea was just an idea. Film a lady getting a phone call saying her husband died at war. I am now starting to...

Genre Research: Horror & Thriller

I researched these two genres because I think my pitch has potential to be either of of these. My pitch for thriller would probably include a mysterious twist leaving the audience in suspense. For example, The  wife could go to work in the morning and come back late at night. On her drive back home late at night she would see a shadow following her.  Then she notices the shadow and the faster she goes the fast the shadow the goes.Because she driving so fast she loses control of the car and ends up driving off the road. The cops call her spouse and finds out that she died. The audience wont know what was said between the spouse and the cops. They'll have to assume which leaves the audience on a cliff hanger. For the horror genre, my idea will obviously be a bit different. This idea will include a bloody and a tad bit of gruesomeness. The spouse will go off to work. When it gets dark things start getting dangerous. The wife will walk to the kitchen and have a weird encou...

Genre Research: Drama

In this genre PowerPoint project I was asked to make a PowerPoint on the genre of my choice. For this project I decided to choose drama as my genre. I chose this genre because my sister is in drama at my school. One day I went to one of her plays. I don't really know too much about theater. The only reason I have the amount of theater knowledge right now is because of this class. Anyways, I went to one of her plays and I thought it was really cool. I cant remember what the name of the play is off the top of my head, but it was really funny. I think it was a musical actually. A lot of the girls had really good voices, even one of my guy friends were in the play and he's voice was nice too. In my project PowerPoint I learned a lot about the "behind the scenes" of drama and what it took to have a successful set-up. I made a 10 slide PowerPoint on all the common factors of Drama. I researched thing like common lighting, common camera angles, common m...

My Pitch

Image
So in class I heard my teacher talking about different pitches and what they are. She gave me a couple good ideas. Well, she more so inspired me. The thing is, I cant remember what it was that I wanted to do. So now I'm kind of starting from scratch. Hopefully it comes back to me or I can come up with good ones. One thing my teacher really emphasized was to make one that's different. As in, spice it up a bit. Come up with a pitch that you haven't seen or heard of before. Before my teacher started explaining what a pitch was I was thinking of doing a kidnapping type of film, but I don't think that's very original. I finally figured out what I want to do! After getting a little inspiration from my not so helpful boyfriend, I came up with doing either an opening sequence on the life of a lady that lost her husband at war or the life of a food critic who travels the world and an unfortunate event happens. I think both are good pitches and that they have potential. I als...

Starting the Final Task

Image
Hello, my name is Destiny. I am a sophomore at Fort. Lauderdale high school. During my free time I'm usually playing softball or doing school work. I've been playing softball my whole life. I eat, sleep, and breathe it. My goal is to go to college and play like my older sister. If I'm lucky and work hard enough, I might get to play with her in college in a couple years. I miss playing with her so much. It doesn't matter who I play with, the chemistry will never be the same it feels like. Not only do I miss playing with her, but she always made the game so fun. We would crack jokes between pitches. There was never a moment where we weren't laughing. I'm not sure what I want to major in in college yet, but I still have time...right? I feel like time just creeps up on you sometimes. I'm not working with anyone on this project. I have yet to work with anyone on any of my project for aice media. I decided not to work with anyone because it makes everything easie...
